It was soo nice to do some "real" learning today. Everything that we have done thus far technically could have been done on Cortland campus/ Lime Hollow. Today, however, we went to some really neat museums. I love learning about the history of a location. Everything in the museums was very well preserved and gave me a greater understanding of what life would have been like back during the logging, and inital settlement, days.
After the two museums we stopped at The Tap Room in the Hamlet of Raquette Lake to have a drink and a snack. It was cool to talk with some locals and learn a little bit more about the lifestyle in this small village. There were even sketches of the locals posted up on the walls and badges from all the local fire and police departments.
This evening, after dinner, we are supposed to go kayaking. I am SOOOOOOOOOOO excited. I've never been kayaking before and I've always wanted to go. I'm hoping that the weather will begin to cooperate so that we can get some lake experience. The lake itself is very much connected to the inital settlement and resources that supplied Raquette Lake. It's a shame that we have been here so long already and barely touched the water. Can't wait!
